Watches of the KPop Demon Hunters Cast
To call this year’s breakout film a cultural phenomenon almost feels lazy. KPop Demon Hunters is an action, musical, rom com with more soul and heart than any ancient demon king could ever dream of devouring. The soundtrack is dangerously catchy and guaranteed to end up in everyone’s Spotify Wrapped this holiday season. But as fun as all that is, that is not what we are here to talk about. What I want to know is what watches the cast are wearing in their day to day lives. Let’s go watch hunting.
Rumi - Chanel BOY•FRIEND
The BOY•FRIEND is an interesting choice for Rumi’s voice actor, Arden Cho. Rectangular watches are already a unique choice, but going a step further to not choose the standard Reverso or Tank option makes this all the more special and a perfect fit for the the leader of the Huntr/x group.
In the film, Arden’s character desperately tries to fit in and shed the very thing that made her special ultimately learning to accept and shine in spite of her condition. Her wearing this watch is a great extension of that. Simple, elegant and different.
The quilted strap also looks very comfortable. Perfect for press events, although might not hold up as well in the heat of battle.
Zoey - Apple Watch
As the everlasting Energizer Bunny of the group, Zoey’s voice actor Ji-Young Yoo’s wearing of an Apple Watch makes perfect sense. Closing your activity rings doesn’t stop when you’re bustin’ rhymes or slaying demons, after all, right?
The Apple Watch was always a great gadget for easily checking texts without pulling out your phone, but it wasn’t until the Ultra came out that it took its first serious step into watch culture. The robust utility means that you can wear it practically anywhere, customized to be worn at an event or as is when you’re knee-deep in demon guts.
Jinu - Cartier Santos Skeleton
As for the bad boy love interest in the film, Jinu’s story runs deep. His voice actor, Ahn Hyo Seop, mirrors that complexity in real life with his Santos Skeleton. The movement itself may be straightforward, but the dial is where the artistry shines. Anyone can hollow out the center of a dial, but it takes a skilled hand to create something this refined and practical. Is that craftsmanship worth the $30,000 that Cartier asks for it? That is for you to decide. What I will say is that it is devilishly good-looking.
Maybe that makes it the perfect watch for Jinu. At the very least, it would look sharp on the wrist while he is striking those dance moves.
Gwi-Ma - Jacob & Co Astronomia Art
Now we are getting to the good stuff. What would the most evil, predatory, manipulative, soul sucking demon wear on their wrist every day? Surely something completely impractical that screams pure self absorption and narcissism, right? Enter the Jacob & Co Astronomia Art. Do not get me wrong, this is an incredible watch. Whether or not you like the design has no bearing on the sheer level of detail the watchmaker poured into this piece.
Actor Lee Byung Hun’s sinister character in this and in Squid Game aside, he genuinely seems like a charming person. After all, no one who has pandas floating around inside their watch can be that bad of a person. I am pretty sure that is written somewhere.
Healer Han - Grand Seiko GMT
Right off the bat Daniel Dae Kim is a watch nerd through and through. So much so that he even showed up on an episode of Talking Watches with Hodinkee. In that he laid out his various watches, all of which were equally worthy of being mentioned, but I felt as though this limited-edition Grand Seiko GMT fit the best in this article.
Healer Han is an eccentric health “enthusiast” in the film. He isn’t satisfied with one particular time zone as that is too narrow of a scope. The GMT gives him the proper perspective to go through his day without worry of missing anything.
I bet he sold plenty of tonics to get this beautiful watch.
Baby Saja - Rolex King Midas
Danny Chung (Baby Saja) introduced me to a fascinating piece of horological history: the Rolex King Midas. Launched in 1962, this limited series of roughly 1,000 pieces stood apart with its bold design and unapologetic presence. Crafted entirely in solid 18k gold, it takes its name from the legendary king of Greek mythology, a fitting tribute to a ruler defined by his golden touch.
At its core, the King Midas was never meant to be subtle. Its weight, geometry, and sheer presence were designed to command attention. While it is out there in terms of design, it aligns perfectly with Danny’s persona as both a musical artist and a connoisseur of streetwear.
By the time this article comes out, KPop Demon Hunters has soared to become Netflix’s top ranking film and a music billboard smasher. Sadly they lost out on the crowning Emmy award, but I’m sure they’ll be back with a sequel soon enough. We’ll keep an eye out for what they are rocking on their wrists until then. We have to watch something after all.
